Gypsy & the Cat's sophomore album The Late Blue is due out later this year, and we've already featured its first two singles ("Bloom" and "Sorry") as SOTD... which means that the Melbourne band have now completed the hat-trick with their delightful new track, "Only in December..
This song has taken them in a slightly different direction from the dream-pop vibe of their first album, 2010's Gilgamesh. As you've likely noticed on their latest tracks, there's a shift towards a slightly more eclectic, bohemian sound "“ possibly picked up during their globetrotting over the past couple of years.
"Only in December" does not differ from this new style, once again solidifying them as one of the finest purveyors of pop around. Summery and vibrant, the track features plenty of deft synth-work, a throbbing bass-line, and playful vocals "“ everything a great pop song needs.
With the album due out around the world shortly (it's already out in Australia!), Gypsy & the Cat will likely be bringing their brilliant pop music to a town near you. Keep an eye out!
