Why do we like this?

My love affair with shoegaze probably started back in ~2005 (coincidentally, that was also the year that it peaked on my radar). While that may be more than a decade ago, there's something about the genre that still appeals to me...

That affinity worked in Chicago musician Francis Shannon's favor with this single "Friends," which caught my attention when submitted via a new application I've built called SubmitHub. It has a pretty "classic" shoegaze sound to it, and that safe take seems to have made it pretty hard to decline.

You can catch it as part of his recently-released self-titled EP Groves, streaming in full on Bandcamp.
