I wasn't sure about this song when I first heard it, but I knew it was extra catchy. Then, I read about Griffin producing, playing the guitar, and cutting his own vocals on it, and I had to see it to believe it; sometimes a good visual helps shed some light on the masterpiece.
Not that I don't know a dozen artists who do the same. But, it's not every one of those artists that has a hit record like Griffin Stoller's "Got You Too."
With the recent successes of tropical sounds in modern production (think Justin Bieber's "Sorry," Drake's "Controlla"), "Got You Too" sits comfortably high above, in that space, as well.
The vocals are very indie rock-ish in the verses, and turn to some light electro/deep house in-between on the hooks. The drops and sounds and transitions are all of excellent quality and construction, and the vocal and production mixes are flawless.
So listening to just another hit-record-to-be, wasn't enough, without the video proof of his hard work and vitality on music.
It's been some time since I have had the chance to see a superstar before they become one. I think Griffin Stoller just may be one, too.
We'll see. For now, just listen.
