Why do we like this?
Dent May recently released Do Things via Animal Collective's label Paw Tracks, and shortly after we are introduced to his latest cover of Grateful Dead's "Shakedown Street."
While the original release of "Shakedown Street" was infused with way more glitter and cocaine of the late 1970s, this rework faithfully stays true to the original but contains an 80s aesthetic that fuses decades and genres and makes it work. Even though I don't call myself a Dead Head, I think that underneath Deny May's glimmering synths and lustrous beats, the timeless essence of the original still somehow works its way in and makes the track shine with esteem.
You can culture yourself on Dent May here and check out their new album Do Things over at the Paw Tracks shop.
