Why do we like this?
I haven't always been the biggest fan of Del tha Funkee Homosapien, but I am attracted to his laid back approach to hip hop, and I was enthralled by the "Deltron3030" project many years back. "Parallel Thought," his latest project with Newark based "Tame One" is really... fun. The real genius of this one is the production value. The ambiance frames their voices very nicely. Everything flows like a cool breezy fall day. The balance between the verses (Del and Tame usually switch off by verse) is fun too.

As far as the rhymes and subject matter, I don't think there is anything groundbreaking or innovative here, just classic playful Del. I let these tracks play in the background until my attention is alerted to something hilarious. Del seems like he'd be a good guy to chill and drink beers with...someday maybe. This is def worth checkin out if you already appreciate the Funksapien's style or if you need an intro to his (or Tame's) work.

The LP's official release date is October 13th but check out YouTube for some advanced screenings of "Flashback" and "Special."

Parallel Uni-verses is quite a low key affair, with the general tempo of the album being slow and relaxed, for the most part. Even the quicker songs have a sense of lethargy that is not boring, but is very calming and reassuring. Del tha Funkee Homosapian and Tame One play quite a lot with rhythms in the album, setting rhymes to offset beats, leaving spaces and tiptoeing around the track to create an interesting dynamic that offsets the slow tempo and makes the whole thing very interesting. - altsounds.com
