There's something about a band that manages to capture the abstract which always draws me in. Goon had me hooked moments after hitting play on their new track — "Angelnumber 1210."
When songs capture not only the monotony of city life but also the haunting quiet of desolate towns at night, the melancholy of existence, as well as the hope of what's beyond, something magical takes place for the listener. Goon manages to do this with seeming ease.
Discordant at the start, the song comes together with a solid percussive foundation and gorgeous imagery shot on 16mm film. Hypnotically tranportive guitar work steals the spotlight before the vocals take us on a journey beyond the conventional.
"Angelnumber 1210" arrives with the announcement of a new album, Hour Of Green Evening, due July 15.
