Tom Honey suffered from tinnitus, a condition that causes continuous ringing in the ears and results in difficulty sleeping. To alleviate the effects of this, he decided to create a series of calming and relaxing sounds to help him sleep. The result is Good Weather for Airstrike, his ambient project that has produced a line of consistently beautiful and peaceful albums.
His latest record is Little Steps, and "Every Day's New" is just one example of the series of lovely tracks it consists of. Built on softly chiming piano chords and lush synthesized atmospherics; a gently descending piano motif repeats throughout, occasionally giving way to open periods of breezy undercurrents.
Sometimes in life you just need some time without momentum, clamor or tension. In just the way Honey needed that escape in his life, with Good Weather for an Airstrike he gives all of us that same chance, and it's quite lovely. Little Steps is out now through Sun Sea Sky Productions.
