Why do we like this?

The unusually named Gongkreeper is the alias of Brighton born Sweden-based songwriter/producer Joe Cherry. Delving into eerie electronic productions, his debut EP Sonnets & Sketches is a dark construction dealing with morality and indifference in a post-modern society.

Despite seemingly heavy subject matter, Sonnets & Sketches is a wonderful listen. Each track deals with a certain concept, and as a whole, the five tracks tell a coherent story starting with brooding opener "Arm's Length" and finishing with the trip-hop influenced "Loose Change Ghandi." Of all the tracks, "Solitary Soul" is a personal favorite.

The pulsating synths make way for Cherry's subdued delivery as the hypnotic, electronic creations push the song towards its cascading finale. Part future-bass part dark-R&B, "Solitary Soul" will infiltrate your soul and leave you with a feeling of melancholic bliss.
