It's really obvious that some artists are not in it (it being this whole amorphous music industry thing) for short bursts of attention, but rather find themselves drawn down a long, winding road, typically filled with growth, experience, and continual change.
I come back again and again to this melodramatic thought when I listen to "Day After Day" from Ontario musician Goldwater. A few years back Goldwater was producing left-field instrumentals like "Glaciate." Now he's dropping original tracks that feature his own voice and lyrics, incorporating guitar licks and other flairs that give this new single a distinct Daft Punk feel. It's electronic, it's pop, it's unexpected, and above all its whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
