Golden Vessel is 17-year-old Brisbane producer Max Byrne. His new track "Control" features Caleb Hodges (Art of Sleeping) on vocals, and really manages to stand out amidst the myriad soulful electronic tracks out there.
The track was reportedly inspired by a beach holiday back in 2013, which resonates throughout the smooth, laid-back atmosphere. Conversely, the lyrics explore the "hardship and suffering" encountered at the end of a long term relationship, and the compelling lyrical emotion works well with the expansive soundscape.
Hodges' vocals are the crowning factor, taking the track to the next level. I absolutely adored Art of Sleeping's 2014 single "Crazy," and it's really cool to hear a totally different side of him.
The track was mixed and mastered by Melbourne's Andrei Eremin, known for his work with Chet Faker, Japanese Wallpaper, Fractures and more.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from this promising new artist on the Australian electronic scene.
