Apparently, January is the most depressing month of the entire year. Luckily I've been recovering from that depressing news with Gold Panda's new EP, Trust.
However, this album is not Lucky Shiner. There's more melancholic silver than radiating gold to be discovered. One quality that remains in tact is the producer's ability to take you to a new land while narrating the journey. "Burnt Out Car In A Forest" shuffles along thoughtfully with intertwined stories of despair and hope. If it's possible to brood beautifully, then Gold Panda does it especially well.
Trust is a foreshadowing of a second full-length album expected later this year. That gives us time to give the four-track EP a proper listen and hopefully catch GP on his announced world tour. Check out the title track "Trust" if you didn't catch it already and visit Ghostly to hear the entire set and for a digital download.
