Why do we like this?

Can we say 'hello Palm Mute Pedal? (If you're curious, here's Nils Frahm demonstrating it.) It is fresh, it is ethereal, and it's modern as all hell. And better yet, GoGo Penguin's latest track, "Wave Decay," makes use of it! The idea was to bring about a sense of the swell of ocean waves — stemming from the artist's fascination with reality below sea level.

It's safe to say "Wave Decay" had me hooked right away! With a jazzy feel providing the ground upon which the moving piano swirls — I'm loving the play between tight percussion and vast, expansive keys.

In the outro, the electronica elements still make an appearance amidst the acoustic wind-down as the band slowly lets the listener go, gently maintaining that sense of beauty — a parting gift from artist to audience.
