I'm a big fan of Brooklyn newcomers, Glom. The brainchild of longtime friends Sean Christian and Peter Warren, Glom infuse their indie-rock tunes with uplifting pop melodies and first made a big splash with debut single "Tell Me Who To Be" earlier this year.
After a few more exciting singles, the band have finally dropped their exceptional first album, Bond, one of the surprise releases of 2019. The 10 track release is the creation of Christian and Warren's three year writing journey to produce a body of work that draws on their 10 decade friendship and muses "on the past and the future, through nostalgia for better days behind and hope for growth ahead."
One of the highlights from the album is the giddy "Forlorn," a hit of indie-guitar goodness that'll bring a smile to your face, while "My Red Spine" is a cracking burst of early-'00s indie-pop and "Something Stupid And Dumb" a brilliant piece of ;90s influenced alternate fun. Speaking with New Noise Magazine the band had this to say about the album;
After a year and a half of writing, demoing, re-demoing, and rehearsing, the first time we listened to the final record was a moving experience. Sahil’s production shattered our expectations, crafting our sound into a perfect package that went far beyond our initial vision for what this record could be. It’s hard to put into words how great it feels to be working and playing with our best friends.
This is a fantastic album and well worth your time. You can listen to Bond here.
