Australian duo GL have been producing their catchy brand of italo infused disco for a few years now. After appearing at local and international festivals touring their LP Touch, the pair returned home to Melbourne to write and record their latest ‘double-A-sided single’ Destiny/Reflect. The second A-side “Reflect” is a glossy 80s dance floor filler, a contemporary spin on classic disco/funk/boogie that leaves you itching to dance.
The track features a slamming solo from none other than Australian synth-maestro Harvey Sutherland, which carries the shimmering 80s synth arrangement perfectly. Coupled with singer Ella Thompson’s glistening vocals the track is guaranteed to get you moving.
In a recent press release, GL revealed "”Reflect” is an extended jam we made at TFS studio in North Fitzroy, Melbourne. We wanted to try a long form exploration piece. Lyrically it's about searching inward, when the outside gets a bit much.”
Destiny/Reflect is out now on Sydney label Plastic World.
