Why do we like this?
Sydney duo Ginger and the Ghost have been on a taste-maker stampede since beginning their journey back in 2012. On the back of their debut EP One Type of Dark, they've performed at some of the world's most important music conferences, from SXSW, Canada Music Week, CMJ, and also back home at Big Sound. Now, their adventurous, worldly style of music making is set to take off once again, with their sophomore EP Call Up The Whales just weeks away.

With the EP's spectacular first single "The Mark of Hearts" now disappearing into the rear-view mirror, the buzz around their next record looks set to continue. Today, we at Indie Shuffle are pleased to give you the first listen of its title track "Call Up The Whales." Typically creative in its instrumentation and tempo changes, it's a wonderful track even before the addition of Ginger's powerful, mesmeric vocals.

The song is a single that has an incredibly narrative feel to it, and given the duo's background in the visual arts, I wouldn't be surprised for it to be paired with a eye-catching video in the coming weeks. I love music which shifts and grows, and this is one of the more complete examples of this talent.

Ginger and the Ghost will be hitting the road again to celebrate the release of their new EP, with an Australian tour followed by a trip to the UK for the Great Escape Festival (all dates can be found here).
