Fragile, breathy vocals, lo-fi crackles, and heady percussive patterns make for a stunning, ethereal offering from enigmatic UK artist Ghost Dust, the moniker of Manchester producer/vocalist Jasmine Eden.
Citing influences as broad-ranging as Bat For Lashes, Daughter, The xx, Portishead and Fink, Eden's music has a stark spiritual focus that leans towards the deliciously dark, alternative, and mystical. Probably the most accessible of her SoundCloud offerings (the majority of which are limited free downloads), "Ghost Theatre" is truly infectious in its exotic eeriness.
Also a talented multi-instrumentalist, Eden's musical weapons of choice include the piano, guitar, bass, and flute, while her penchant for tech geekery also means she masters her own tracks, allowing her complete control over her haunting creations.
With the accompanying video, below, having made a recent appearance on the Mercedes-Benz Mixtape, I predict great things for Ghost Dust.
