Hailing from British Columbia, what began as a solo electronic project has evolved into something much more. Germany Germany is still primarily the brainchild of Drew Harris, and includes three other full members who record and perform with the band.
It's a beautiful brand of electro 'future-pop' they produce too; simultaneously energetic and reflective. Eminently danceable music that maintains the downbeat coolness of some ambient electronica. Their latest record Juneau is out now, and "Lux" is a perfect microcosm of the warm soundscapes they conjure. Bouncing synths and driving rhythms resting on a bed of a lush synth wash and scored with gently persistent motifs.
Between Teen Daze, Grimes, and Germany Germany; Canada seems to be producing some of the best expansive electronic music at present. Long may it continue. Juneau is out now as a self-released title.
