I love a nice bass-riff that makes you feel like you're in a leather jacket, sunglasses, and possess ultimate swag. Combine that with the orchestral sounds of the strings section, conjuring emotional attachment. Boss level achieved.
If Gaz Coombes sounds like a familiar name, that's because he was originally the frontman for Supergrass. Following the breakup of the British-pop band, Coombes chose to rise to the challenge and go solo. He first released Here Comes the Bombs in 2012, then blessed our ears again with World's Strongest Man.
Although a musical veteran, Coombes found a way to remain relevant in the landscape of indie-pop now, and with his own twist. His voice wreaks of seduction and confidence, which reminds me of Joe Newman from Alt-J.
I have had this song on repeat all day because it gives me the confidence to walk through campus with my eyes up instead of fixated on my feet.
Cheers.
