Why do we like this?
Having visited Iceland and spent a lot of time with its inhabitants, what has impressed upon me is their unabashed creative freedom, a desire to express themselves and a remarkable sense of “self” and connectedness with nature. All of this adds up to Iceland being the origin of some of the most deeply interesting music of the moment - which is why so much of the music I feature on this site is from Icelanders.
“Whole Again,” the new track from the enigmatic GANGLY, is a thing of beauty. From its sensual bass lines and rattling drumline, to the whispered vocals of Jófríður Ákadóttir, this track doesn’t sound like it belongs on Earth. But how wonderful for us that it does.
