Why do we like this?
With a handful of demos already doing the rounds, Sydney band Gang of Youths have drummed up a considerable following. Currently completing a national tour alongside Cloud Control, the band will be relocating to the USA at the end of the year to continue their music journey. Before their move however, they've had time to release their first official single, the heartfelt "Evangelists."
The band came together last year, and a lot of their music has been written as a way of coping with a number of personal tragedies suffered by one of the band members. This emotion is felt all throughout their music -- especially in their raw, emotive vocals, wide soundscapes and persistent percussion.
With their first single now ticked off, there's plenty of promise for the band's relocation; I'm just hoping they visit home every now and then.
