Why do we like this?
You may remember my review of Gang Colours' shoegaze single "Fancy Restaurant" from last month. Delicate and lovely, the UK musician's composition is still a go-to. Welsh artist Ifan Dafydd (pronounced ee-van da-vith) has remixed the single into an intelligently subtle track.
Taking a theatrical, diffused approach to his remix, Dafydd has tastefully manipulated the vocals and thrown down a deconstructed melody. It is elegant and modern in its UK garage take, an interesting variation on the showgazed original. Points of the track make music lovers stop and stare into their hearts to ask, "Wait, is that you, James Blake?" The stylistic parallels that can be drawn are astounding at times. But whatever, we love you anyways, Dafydd, even if we cannot pronounce your name.
Need more Gang Colours? This mix is HIGHLY recommended by yours truly.
