After years on major labels, Gabe Dixon has opted to release his first independent album. Turns to Gold comes out in April 8th and the second single, “The Way To Love Me,” came out last week.
Dixon previously toured with Allison Krauss as her keyboardist and background vocalist and has performed with former Wings frontman and Kanye collaborator, Paul McCartney. Both musicians’ influences are felt in “The Way To Love Me,” which is a wonderful kind of medley, like Jenny Lewis meets Keane. If you like Nate Ruess, but feel he's a bit too "Chevy Sonic" for you, this could be the song for you!
The track features Natalie Prass who exudes a tender vulnerability with her vocals. (Prass is also known for her work opening for Ryan Adams.) “The Way To Love Me" is a joyful kind of lullaby.
