Why do we like this?
It's pretty insane that this is our first post featuring G-Eazy, but it's an absolute privilege to introduce him to Indie Shuffle.
I've been a fan of this cat for a while, and saw him live in New York City twice (first as an opening act at Gramercy Theater in early 2012, and most recently his February 2013 headliner at the Highline Ballroom). I had a chance to meet him on the first occasion, but not the second because G was just too busy catching the flying bras that were being thrown at him all night.
If you are a fan of contemporary Hip-Hop and have never heard any of Gerald's songs, well, I suggest you step your game up. He's the definition of an artist who has built a fan base through grassroots techniques, as well as sheer hard work & talent. If you're feeling this new-new titled "I Don't Believe You," which FYI is self-produced, here's a homework assignment:
1) Download his 2011 break-though mixtape Endless Summer.
2) Peep the video for "Marilyn," off last Fall's Must Be Nice, to recognize the visual skills: YouTube
3) Enjoy your newly found dapper-rapper, hip-hop's James Dean: G-Eazy.
The kid's hard work has definitely been paying off lately. He was recently selected to be a performing act at the 2013 Billboard Awards (beating out a handful of worthy opponents, including our pals Ghost Beach), and just yesterday, he told his fans he will be touring with Lil Wayne, T.I. and 2 Chainz during the "America's Most Wanted" tour. Please, respect the success.
