The UK duo known as Futurecop! has long been known for their grandeur. I suppose when you describe your music with a tagline like "Imagine riding a unicorn through the clouds, towards the Northern Lights, whilst wielding a lightsaber and simultaneously transporting the listener directly to both their childhood past and their future!" you pretty much have to go big.
That's exactly what they guys have in store with their newest album, Fairy Tales, which is being accompanied by six different videos for six of the album's tracks. If the trailer is any indication, 80s and 90s pop culture lovers are in for a treat.
The first track to get the video treatment is "Sun Is Mine," a beautiful piece of synthwave featuring the vocal stylings of Mereki. With a simple beginning that bleeds into jagged basslines and breathy vocals, the track features Roland-inspired synthesizers and guitars that fill every empty space.
I just can't help but imagine myself as the starry-eyed 14-year-old kid I was once upon a time ago, obsessed with watching Dawson's Creek and desperate to find my Joey Potter. I guess that's just the kind of romanticism that Futurecop! is instilling in a whole new generation of dreamers.
