Why do we like this?
My first post of 2020 is the delightful ditty, "Your Reply," from Hop Along frontwoman, Frances Quinlan.
An acoustic guitar burst of one-sided love, the track is the latest single taken from Quinlan's forthcoming debut album,Likewise. Similar to previous singles "Rare Thing" and "Now That I'm Back," it's Quinlan's effortless and charming vocals that draw you in and take you on a soothing journey through the singer-songwriters thoughts on love and relationships. Discussing the track, Quinlan had this to say:
There can be a one-sidedness to even the most loving and rewarding relationships. We will always have a part of ourselves we can't or don't know how to share. There are so many risks involved. Regardless, I think of this song as celebratory. If anything, the speaker is frustrated at coming so close to understanding another person completely, but perhaps only just missing the mark. But still what a gift that is, to come so close.
Recorded with Hop Along bandmate, Joe Reinhart, Likewise is shaping up as one of the must-hear releases of 2020.
Likewise is set for release January 31.
