With Fran's bio being "sexy rock u can cry to ," I knew I was in for a treat. Who could ask for more in this economy?
The first (exactly) twelve seconds are ambiguous, leaving you curious as to WHAT is about to happen?! Having never listened to Fran, I was in the dark & I'm afraid of the dark. At the thirteen second mark, the track explodes into pleasant, soprano vocals accompanied with swift, cute guitar riffs.
It's unexpectedly catchy and I'm instantly drawn in. Reminiscent of that shoegaze, alt-rock vibe, like the type that personifies every female character in a Michael Cera movie. Does that make sense? Picture the type of chick in "Scott Pilgrim Vs the World."
Fran is the songwriting project of Maria Jacobsen & she is becoming increasingly popular in the Chicago music scene. I am not surprised.
