Why do we like this?
After what seems like an eternity (actually about six months), Melbourne maestro Fractures returns with brand new music. Why the long wait? Well, after the rapturous reception of his debut single, the multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/producer ironically fractured his neck in a fall, and his three months in a neck brace put a slight stall to what is looking like the start of a long and successful career. From the looks of this new single however, Zito has used his time very well.
"Cadence" is a more toned down track than "Twisted," but it's just as effective. Relying solely on an uncomplicated but perfectly arranged keyboard backing, you really get an idea of just how powerful Zito's heartrending vocals are.
While the song itself is about unrequited infatuation, he could be singing about the weather and I'd still be close to tears. Simply put, this is a truly gorgeous song from one of the most exciting up-and-coming talents in Australia. This release is twice as bountiful, with B-Side "Tizer" also now available (stream here) -- another heartfelt slow-burner bound to please.
These two tracks aren't where the good news ends either, with Fractures' debut EP due out early next year. I, for one, will be waiting (somewhat) patiently.
