Why do we like this?
Brisbane six-piece Founds is an interesting group to see live; six seemingly diverse personalities combining to produce some truly breathtaking music. They're a reasonably young band, but are set to release their debut album Hadean (due out September 7). We brought you the album's first single "Avalanches" earlier this year, and their latest offering is the stunning "Caves."
The female/female vocal arrangements are a standout, combining to perfection with aching violin and piano chords and steady percussion. This is a band which really builds their music well, adding to overall stirring nature of the songs. There's also an interesting chanted section in the middle in which the time signature shifts effortlessly.
"The word Hadean represents the earliest eon in the history of the Earth, Hadean is about Earth's journey "“ and the beauty it holds." Given their first two singles, this quote fits in well with the band's thought-provoking, musical storytelling. Founds are definitely a huge talent, and Hadean will help these stars rise quickly.
