Sounds like:
Simian Mobile Disco,
Kaskade,
Daft Punk
Why do we like this?
Here's the thing: I avoid the Grammys. They unabashedly tout an inner circle of prominent musicians, allowing few others to enter and only when they deem it approp. I mean, the quintessential example of this is Bon Iver falling under the "New Music" category this year. Um, EXCUSE ME? See Jason's full take here.
2012, however, saw an incredible change in the winds. As much as I personally abhor Skrillex, the brostep queen actually went home with three awards showing people more comfortable expanding their go-to genres.
And the kicker? Deadmau5 played alongside Foo Fighters (original live video here). Is this real life? As someone who is entrenched in the electronic music world, it is astonishing yet amazing to see dubstep and techno not only present but fully embraced at an event so mainstream as the Grammys.
Take a listen to Deadmau5's full remix of the Foo Fighters "Rope" here and judge for yourself: Is electronic here to stay in the mainstream?
