Sounds like:
Air,
The Books,
Gil Scott-Heron,
DJ Shadow
Why do we like this?
Here's another one that doesn't exactly "fit the mould" on Indie Shuffle, and yet... I feel compelled to blog it.
The Yorkeshire-based quartet are using their music "to help advance equality and unity; to help break down barriers that divide us." I don't know exactly how that's going to pan out, but I suppose I'm here sharing the message with you, so that's progress, right?
"Teacher" is a mellowed-out jazz-infused song that reminds me a tad of DJ Shadow and Air -- though it's certainly got a feel all of its own. The combination of spoken word and laid-back instrumentals leave me feeling pretty darn relaxed.
You'll catch it as part of the band's recently-released album We're the Ones.
