It's been almost exactly a year since I first covered Fold. Seems like as good a time as any to pick up a new song, right?
"Concrete Things" comes as the band's latest single, sampling Lorraine Hansberry, an African American playwright who passed away at the age of 34 back in 1965.
The song's structure and approach end up reminding me of The Avalanche's "Frontier Psychiatrist," though with a gentler approach than the former. I've listened to it about 20 times now, and I gotta say it's managed to consistently hit the spot.
