Of the three singles that Foals have released so far off their upcoming double-album,"Sunday" is the stand-out song for me; it follows on from "On The Luna" and "Exits."
"Sunday" is a slow-burning anthem; it combines their signature sound with swaying electronic soundscapes until it bursts in the middle unexpectedly. It's a clean break which breathes with life and an urgent, excited energy. Expect 4/4 kicks, a punkish bass-line, and cyclical vocals that are reminiscent but hard to place -- a washed out combination of Moby, Fatboy Slim, and Radiohead comes to mind. The four-piece band then miraculously manage to bring it all together again. If this is anything to go by we are in for some unexpected thrills on the rest of the full release.
