Why do we like this?
This is dance-hall hip-hop goodness that you won't want to end. SPIN, who had the exclusive deal to release the track, called it a "combustive electronic speaker-rattler," popular tags describe it as "alternative pleasure" -- to me it sounds like religious turntablism. Whatever you want to call it, it's fucking epic.
0:55. Wait for it. A heavy cocktail of shuddering kicks, repetitive hi-hats, chopped vocal samples and explosive snares that all come together in an electronic hot mess for some fancy ear play. In one word? Massive.
Flosstradamus. The name says it all. The Chicago-based duo -- i.e. J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci) -- are frequently associated with The Cool Kids and Kid Sister (J2K's sister). Back in '06 they were included in URB's annual "Next 100." They aren't "next" anymore, that's for sure. They're "now" -- and they're fucking killing it.
For this track, they've e-collaborated with New Jersey's DJ Sliink after meeting up at SXSW. Story goes that Flosstradamus sent a rough demo over to DJ Sliink who chopped up some vocals and delivered this gem in the form of musical magic. Enjoy.
Check out some of Flosstradamuses remixes and be sure to be on the lookout for their upcoming EP Nomads.
