Why do we like this?
Music serves many purposes:  to entertain, to enlighten, for enjoyment, to instill odd movements we call dancing. All of the above are great, but one of my favorite qualities of music is its ability to transport us to other places and times. That's exactly what Floating Compass does to us with Tales From Yesteryear.

The highlighted song off this unique project is titled "Travel," and features members of other indie folk outfits such as Camera Obscura, Los Campesinos!, Efterklang, Stornoway, and Freelance Whales. That's a collaboration all Brooklyn hipsters can be proud of.

Tales From Yesteryear is 10 songs in total, and from the looks of Floating Compass' lyrics page, each song is a poetic day in the life of a young man during the Middle Ages. "Travel" is the tenth and final day, and the culminating line of this project is a nice piece of wisdom we can all take with us today: "When all the world around you goes unclear, notice where you are again and remember your yesteryear."
