The flagship title from Flipturn's latest album Burnout Days is an invitation to nostalgia and romance, and I adore it.
One of my biggest discoveries this year is the gloriously esoteric band Flipturn, a woozy, loud, and spacey band that gave me "Space Cowboy" and a whole lot of existentialism with it. But with "Burnout Days," they invite you into a different feeling: a feeling of nostalgia, '90s romance, D&D, and sneaking cigarettes. All my skateboarding bruises grew fonder as this track kept playing, and I was grinning from ear to ear.
Like a good home video, this track is a fuzzy, fun, and nostalgic callback to your younger days and your rebellious future.
