Why do we like this?

Another act to add to your never-ending Australian watchlist is Adelaide trio Flamingo. Spending the last year developing their sound and live show, their hard work is starting to pay dividends with a raft of high-profile supports (including Bonobo, Rüfüs and the Kite String Tangle). It's also resulted in the completion of the band's debut EP, the impressive Heavy Steps.

The EP's title track and current single is a good indication of why Flamingo is on the rise. Smooth, hypnotic electronica with a tropical undertone, it's a very "now" sound -- especially when combined with Kacee Heidt's enthralling vocals. This is a single dripping with soul.

Heavy Steps is a phenomenal record, well worth your time. Check it out in full on SoundCloud.
