You'd be hard pressed to find someone releasing sexier music than FKA Twigs right now. "Papi Pacify" is the new single from her just-released record EP2 (September 17), and from what I've heard of it so far I might be spending the better part of the day alone in my room with this album. I've been enamored with all of her deeply sensuous singles to date, and "Papi Pacify" is no exception.
With Arca (of Yeesusnotoriety) at the production helm, the track boasts a complex and layered soundscape that you owe yourself the favor of playing with the volume on high. Twigs' vocals manage to be sparse, yet lush, subdued, and somehow still enormously soulful. Her delivery is painfully sexy. And if the aural experience alone isn't quite enough, I implore you to delve into the provocative music video.
Desire, and the complexities that arise from it, are at the core of much of FKA Twigs' music, and her sound accentuates that concept beautifully. I really can't get enough of it. So far I've had to satiate myself with tantalizing four-song EPs, and EP2promises to deliver on the seduction front.
Hearing her development from the first to the second EP has me quivering with anticipation for a full-length album down the line. I'm getting ahead of myself though, for now I can relish in the ecstasy of EP2 and take solace in the fact that anticipation is the mother of desire.
