A learned hip-hop nerd knows the name Finale. The alien rhymer with the intricate, cerebral flow landed in Detroit and claimed the city as his home. Motowners know him for revealing his true form at open mics, and the world at large was able to gleam his brilliance through two full length projects, 2007's Develop with producer Spier1200 and his solo debut, 2009's A Pipe Dream and A Promise.
Then, just like that, just when the momentum was building for the rhyming prodigy, he was gone, back to his planet. In actuality, Finale opted to focus on building his family and raising his newborn son than partitioning his focus and energy between hip-hop and home. He's the realest for that one.
But a sleeping giant can only sleep for so long. The roots of a family laid firm, Finale is back with a full clip. The first round is "Just Due," a chilly (not chill) single with fierce peers Miz Korona and Homeboy Sandman about claiming your just due in an industry that leeches off true artistry.
Finale's upcoming album, produced entirely by Oddisee, Odds & Ends, arrives via Mello Music Group in August.
