Songs are like friends. Some last a lifetime and some only hang around for a short while before being forgotten. Over the last few weeks, this song has come back time and time again and I’ve grown to enjoy it more and more. I guess it’s like the new kid in class that seems pretty cool at first but then you get to know them and they turn out to be even cooler than you thought.
The recording style, the music video, the mullet - almost everything about "Henna Tattoo" feels like it’s straight out of the '90s. Mix that with a bit of bedroom pop vibes and maybe that’s why it gives a feeling of both new and nostalgic at the same time. Perhaps this is just another song that I’ll forget in a few months, but who knows? Maybe I’ve gained a new lifelong friend.
