Why do we like this?

UK-based artist Fictonian only started releasing music late last year, but it's clear that he's one to watch in 2015.

This track had a really calming effect on me, but at no point did my attention wane. It's not easy to find the line between soothing and boring, but this is something quite special.

Something I really enjoy about "Double Negative" is that while it doesn't really build or go anywhere particularly surprising, it doesn't need to. There's something oddly satisfying about the gentle story being told here; it's like a little self-contained snippet -- as though it's part of something bigger, but this is all we need to know.

At two and a half minutes long, I found myself wanting it to go on for a bit longer. So I played it twice.

Watch the really cute flip-book animated video clip here. It put a big smile on my face.
