Why do we like this?
It's been a mostly-gloomy June here in the San Francisco, and the fog and wind don't appear to be ready to relent. But summers stay late in The City, and by the time the Treasure Island Music Festival rolls around in October we'll just have hit the warmest part of the year.
Predicting the weather in the Bay Area is generally a futile task, so we here at Indie Shuffle are going to make some prognostications that play closer to our strengths"”the lineup for Treasure Island, our favorite Northern California music festival. The lineup will be officially released on July 12th, so until then we'll be grinding the rumor mill and dishing out the inside scoop so you can get your fall plans in order. Our first bean to spill is the baritone-fronted college rock group The National (click here for MP3s).
Word on the street is they'll be playing on the indie-rock themed second day, taking place on October 17th. The National will be furiously touring throughout the summer, fall, and into the winter, and are currently scheduled to be in California on that date. We haven't heard anything about set times yet, but I hope The National (MP3s) get a night slot. This group will be one of the louder acts on Sunday, and playing in the hot sun while folky and twee acts play against the lights of the evening San Francisco skyline seems a bit unfair.
Be sure to come back to Indie Shuffle to hear more about the Treasure Island Music Festival lineup. We'll be dropping nuggets of info every couple of days until the official release on July 12th.
