Why do we like this?
Before I talk about this track, I feel some context is necessary. Garage originated from house, but only took certain aspects, adding its own through further subgenres (such as 2-step). The deep bass that carries songs originates in 2-step, and has recently been combined with the piano-style rhythms that characterize house music.
Many of the tracks I've shared with you -- especially ones from the likes of Julio Bashmore and Mosca -- shows how artists can take house in its various forms and add dollops of bass.
All this is important because elusive Belgians FCL take house in its earliest form -- soulful vocals, über simple piano tunes -- and simply added bass. The effect is the best of all three: garage, house and bass. This leaves you with one of the year's best dance tracks, and some of the most purified and bastardized house out there all in one go!
