Coming out of the heralded Eglo Records camp, "Phoneline" is a electronic soul jam featuring two young rising voices, Funkineven and the lovely Fatima. The lead single for the
Phoneline EP, the coy narrative is played out over a pulsating beat. Fatima's chorus kills it on this one.
"Phoneline" finds Funkineven and Fatima playing the roles of two would-be lovers, flirting and teasing with potential dates over the phone. This is ostensibly an ode of sorts to jams from decades past that would include or be centered around the idea of talking over the phone as courtship. Do people still even do that anymore? Or do they just text?
