Over the years, Marvin Gaye's funk and soul classic "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" has undergone a series of covers and edits from artists including The Slits, Bill Frisell, and The Temptations. While they are all good covers, they have been obvious ones, and most recently it's been Leeds-based producer Farrow who has drawn inspiration from the original track and truly made it his own.
Sampling the smooth vocals of the 1967 version of the track by Gladys Knight & The Pips, it is only the classic line "losing you would end my life you see, because you mean that much to me" that gives us any sort of indication to the source.
It's a unique take on a household classic, a piano-heavy production with great chord progression and infectious echoing vocals. Farrow wins every time when it comes to producing music that makes you feel the summer time vibes all year round.
