If you feel like you've been experiencing some pretty heavy turbulence lately with everything that's been happening with the world, let "Look The Other Way" by Melbourne/London-based Family Friends be your medicine.
Siblings Rebecca and Tom Fitzsimons have created a feeling simultaneously mellow and vibrant with this track, easing the mind and conjuring up a smile with the kind of warm, guitar-centric psych-rock that there will always be a place for. It's making me so happy as I listen over and over.
One thing to address though: is that a Furby on the album art?! I'm conditioned to grow anxious when I see those things, as I have a scarring childhood memory of being forced to throw one out of a two story window when it wouldn't stop whining in its Furby gibberish in the middle of the night and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off.
That said, this wonderful song should do quite a bit to amend my relationship with those strange creatures, so thank you Family Friends.
