Post-punk must be all the rage in Canada these days. Already this year we've experienced Viet Cong's mesmerizing debut, and now we have more fuzzy goodness from Toronto-based Fake Palms.
Fronted by Michael le Riche and comprised of Hooded Fang and Slim Twig members, Fake Palms' first single is awash with hazy guitars and driving percussion. The song builds to an ecliptic torrent of reverb that slowly drowns le Ritchie's soothing vocals, and although not as confronting as contemporaries Viet Cong, there's a current of melodic pop that flows through "Sun Drips" that's reminiscent of Echo & The Bunnymen.
Enjoy!
