Why do we like this?
If you're like me, you thought Yeezus was an abstract pile of couture, wave-riding dung. And then you changed your mind two weeks later and thought it was actually pretty interesting, because that's how your brain works (and you are just now embracing that nearly three decades into your current Earthly visit).
Also if you're like me, the one part of Yeezus you instantly liked were the splashes of soul. Obviously the closing track, "Bound," was an immediate highlight, serving as a reward for getting through the uneasy nine tracks that preceded it. Another slice of throwback Yeezy was the four bar break in the opening track "On Sight" that comes and goes before you know what hits you and leaves you wanting more.
Well, lucky for you (and me), the brief excerpt lives on as a full track by Fabolous of all people. It's unclear if Fabolous had the track before Yeezus or if it's a loop of the excerpt (though I highly doubt the latter, that would be some engineering wizardry). Whatever the case may be, it turns into F-A-B-O's best song in ages. He rides the beat with the understated bop of an experienced spitter, offering up a well-done serving of "aggressive content," in the words of Curtis Jackson.
If Yeezus was a little too artsy-fartsy for you, this track is probably right up your alley.
