DJ Exile is an underground super-producer. While money hungry rappers might dream of getting a beat from Kanye, many up-and-coming MCs would love to lace an Exile beat. From his work with Aloe Blacc, Blu, and Fashawn to his own solo work, Exile has shown and proven his versatility and mastery at producing, not just making beats.
Exile recently teamed up with LRG for a mixtape entitled Intro To The Outro, showcasing some past Exile highlights as well as new and little-heard gems. Notable highlights include an original track with the Southern impresario Bun B as well as an MF DOOM remix, the first time the metal-face villain has been on an Exile production. There's new Blu and Exile, Fashawn and Exile, and Emanon music for all the die-hards as well. This tape comes in anticipation of 4 TRK MIND, out in October -- Exile's first album where he will be both the producer and MC. The first leak off that project, "Klepto" is included on this tape as well.
If you're not up on Exile, familiarize yourself now. He has also been making headways in the dreaded mainstream. After a show-stealing beat with Mobb Deep's Pearly Gates a few years ago, Exile had production on Big Sean's album with "Don't Wait For Me" after forming a relationship with legendary producer NO ID. Now that NO ID has taken a position as Vice President of Def Jam Records, we might be hearing of Exile in a different context soon.
