At first glance, London newcomer Ethan Breakaway's story might seem pretty typical - a kid from London with a passion for music immersing himself within influences as diverse as Marvin Gaye, John Mayer, Prince, Loose Ends and Usher.
But upon listening to his music you'll quickly realise and discover that there is more that meets the eye (or ears). His debut EP Ink speaks volumes on talent, displaying songwriting with real depth, soulful vocals and subtle-yet-powerful productions.
Each track from the EP was released one-by-one earlier this year, but it's "Nostalgia" that has really hooked me. Aptly named, the track's instrumental has a really old-school-RnB vibe to it. Coupled with Ethan's soaring, emotive vocals that draw you in, you'll listen hard to every word and feel it. Though a very personal track, the story he tells is all too familiar and relatable to us all. This one's for your breakup playlist.
