Está Vivo is Ryan McMahon, an artist endowed and spewing forth with affection. He calls girls "darlin," speaks of love in excess, and it's plain to see that his music is a direct representation of himself. I encourage you all to somehow contact this man and tell him how much you love his music (which you will) as the adoration will not go unreciprocated.
The pseudonym itself, Está Vivo, translates to "is alive," and it aptly defines the project -- even his alterations on remixes are easily identifiable, dotted with translucent epiphanies full of auditory optimism.
As far as "Smile Back" goes, Its that feeling you have when you've come back from a long day at the beach. When the waves and sun have left you completely drained, and you can summon up just enough energy to crease your sunburnt cheeks with a smile. "Smile Back" is song that requires very little coercion as you nod along and think of your sweetheart. I don't know what could be more charming than a xylophone, dampened tambourines, raking drums, and a calm man telling you how much he loves you.
This song is a feature off of his soon-to-be-released album
Befitting Flesh, of which we can all expect more giddy expressions of adoration. And hopefully, summer serves as the perfect excuse to act upon all these blissful inspirations. I wish you all the best in your romantic endeavors, and so does Está Vivo!
